Problem:

Many students with mental health challenges struggle to attend campus regularly, leading to interrupted progress, social isolation, and increased stress. Existing online learning tools lack interactivity and emotional support, making them poor substitutes for in-class experiences.

Solution:

We designed a remote learning support app that works across mobile, tablet, and desktop platforms, with my focus on the mobile interface. It enables students to join classes and campus activities remotely, personalize their learning, connect with peers and teachers via real-time translation, and easily access on-campus counseling services.

Process:

Through background research, online ethnography, personas, user journey, and competitor analysis, I found that students facing social anxiety or mental health challenges often feel isolated and unsafe in remote learning. Existing apps separate education from mental health support, leaving a critical gap. These insights led me to design a simple, intuitive interface that integrates learning with psychological care. In the design process, I moved from low-fidelity prototypes to high-fidelity interfaces, and through heuristic evaluation feedback, I continuously improved system status visibility, flexibility and efficiency of use, and error prevention. Further details of the design process are illustrated in the visuals below.
