Concept & Inspiration
This project is part of the “Animating Famous Paintings” series. I chose Mondrian’s Broadway Boogie Woogie, a painting that captures the pulse of New York with small blocks scattered along yellow lines, like jazz translated into geometry. The busy, rhythmic composition feels alive, as if cars and lights are rushing through the streets. Building on this idea, I turned the painting into an interactive audio-visual piece: blocks became cars moving to jazz, lights shifted from yellow to red like autumn leaves, and clicking them added drum beats to the music. The result is a lively, dynamic scene that lets users step into Mondrian’s vision of the city.
